As a form of Complementary/Integrative therapy, combining, art and science. Aromatherapy is used to enhance physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.
When a person inhales an essential oil that scent is carried by olfactory nerve cells in the nose to the olfactory system which then sends the aroma to the brain, namely the limbic system, the house of emotions and emotional behavior. Immediately, and depending on the oil, you may begin to feel more alert or more relaxed. You may feel excited and aroused. You may feel the release of negative emotions and/or the soothing of muscle tension. Mood enhancers like serotonin and endorphins get released.
Our sense of smell is 10,000 more powerful than any other sense and the recognition of smell is immediate. (Other senses like touch travel to the brain via the spinal cord.) Smell is also the strongest link to the subconscious mind, our collective unconscious mind where memories are stored.
With a custom perfume you will be filling out a intake form, be actively apart of picking certain scents and being present for a short meditation session. The total time of the intake form and meditation is 35 minutes. The perfume will be finished 30 minutes later. Feel free to stay or leave while it's being made. I can mail it to you as well. Sessions can be held in person or via Skype.
